In the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, we finally learned the answer to those questions. Maul survived by focusing on his hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi. His shattered body was dumped on the junk planet Lotho Minor, where he was eventually found by his brother, Savage Opress. Together, they set out to get revenge on Obi-Wan and the Jedi.
