White Sox Losing Streak Continues as Davis Martin Struggles

Another Loss: White Sox Swept in Three-Game Series

The Chicago White Sox's losing streak reached seven games on Friday as they were swept in a three-game series by the Minnesota Twins. The loss dropped the White Sox to 11-23, the worst record in the American League.

Davis Martin's Struggles

Davis Martin started for the White Sox on Friday and allowed five runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. It was the second straight poor outing for Martin, who has now allowed 10 runs in his last 8.1 innings.

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said after the game that he is concerned about Martin's struggles. "He's a young pitcher, and he's going to have his ups and downs," Grifol said. "But we need him to be better than he's been lately."

Drew Thorpe Impresses in Loss

While Martin struggled, Drew Thorpe impressed in relief. The rookie right-hander allowed just one hit in 3.2 innings, striking out five batters.

Thorpe has now allowed just one run in his last 10.1 innings. He has struck out 12 batters in that span.

Positive Signs for White Sox

Despite the loss, there were some positive signs for the White Sox on Friday.

  • Jonathan Cannon allowed just four runs in six innings.
  • The White Sox bullpen allowed just one run in 5.2 innings.
  • Luis Robert went 2-for-4 with a double.

The White Sox will try to snap their losing streak on Saturday when they host the Cleveland Guardians.
